Davis & Floyd is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Site Design Team in our Greenville, SC Office. Our firm has been providing quality engineering services to our clients since 1954. This candidate will become part of a team that provides project consulting, site planning, design, permitting, and engineering services to a wide variety of clients. The ideal candidate will work in a strong team environment of highly motivated professionals for a family owned and oriented company that prides itself on integrity and quality. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop project manuals for bidding, and overseeing the bid process through bid award
  • Perform all aspects of site design such as grading, drainage, stormwater management, water and sewer, collection, pump stations/force mains, erosion control, SWPPP and reports, construction cost estimating, as well as project bidding and construction administration
  • Solve problems and provide technical advice to engineers and technical subordinates
  • Check and prepare site designs and drawings, technical and front-end specifications
  • Coordinate and manage daily activities/scheduling of various assigned projects
  • Conduct pre-construction conference, review submittals, pay requests, change orders and other duties during the course of construction
  • Direct technical testing, surveys, and field engineering teams
  • Interface with clients by phone, in writing and in person to communicate and establish expectations
  • Provide necessary coordination and follow-up on the work to ensure quality standards and client satisfaction are met
  • Review of design documents for quality assurance and control, and ensure compliance with Davis & Floyd's quality standards
  • Ensure budgets, schedules and project specifications are met
  • Responsible for contracts, scope of services and budgets
  • Assist in preparation of presentation material for client meetings and public review sessions
  • Participate in and facilitate meetings with stakeholders and clients
  • Instruct, train, and mentor group members
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) is required
  • Minimum of 10 years design experience in site development, grading, drainage, stormwater management, and permitting
  • 2 years residential development required
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local agency regulations
  • Knowledge of engineering and surveying practices
  • Experience managing a wide variety of site development projects, and working with clients
  • Ability to manage and communicate effectively with staff and clients
  • Experience in Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley Civil Storm V8i (preferred), SEDCAD, PondPack, and AutoTurn
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
  • Skill in planning, organizing, and prioritizing work
  • Organized, good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, sound problem
  • solving skills, and sound computer knowledge
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
